Autumn is a great time of year to get out the arts and crafts. I just love making things from nature after we’ve been for a lovely walk.
Last week we went collecting things for our arts and crafts. We made a few things, like acorn faces and leaf rubbings, but we still had lots of leaves, acorns etc to work with, so this week we got them out again and this is what we did…….
Nature monsters
We made these nature monsters by painting some toilet rolls. We stuck some leaves in the top for ears/hair, drew on some features and stuck on a berry for a nose and an acorn on the back for a tail. Then I found some googly eyes, which of course the children wanted to use, but I must admit, I do like the googly eyes.
These were so easy to make and the children could use their own imagination to create whatever they wanted. They loved them!
Leaf printing
I painted a very basic outline of a tree on a very large piece of paper (there’s always something good about doing large pictures). Then the girls painted on the leaves and printed them on the tree. They had so much fun doing this and got quite messy. As you can see from the picture, they loved getting messy!
Wand making
We collected a few sticks on our walk last week, so I thought, how about making a wand. The girls had great fun painting their sticks (many times over, so they actually ended up quite brown looking) and then playing with them. I had planned to stick something to the end, to make them more wand like, but they wouldn’t wait to play with them.
Autumn creativity, is definitely my favourite. There are so many things you can do, just let your imagination go. Children love using their imagination.
This is just TOO cute! I’m so going to steal some of these ideas if that’s OK with you!! Love the autumn nature monsters! Thanks for linking up with #SavouringtheSeason xx
Thank you, please steal away. It’s great fun!
We need nature monsters here now! Loving those, so I’m sure we’ll be making them soon, thanks x
Great, hope you enjoy making some, they are do easy x
Love this idea. We will be having a go at this next week. Thanks
Thanks, hope you enjoy it, we had lots of fun x
Lovely autumn craft ideas
Thank you x
These look great. Might have to have a go at making these. It’ll give the children something else to do with a toilet roll rather than just making binoculars with two rolls!
Ooh, we’ve not tried binoculars, might have to try that, thanks x
Ok…. we are so making some nature monsters!!
Great minds as this was exactly what my son wanted to do (with the toilet roll holders). I am loving your tree.
Great ideas, I’ve been looking for more ideas for all the leaves that seem to be making their way into our house! Popping over from Motivational Monday x
