It has been a week and a half since we put the twins into beds. What a challenge it has been!
I think there is a major difference between putting a single child into a big bed and twins who share a room into beds. My son was an absolute angel when we put him into a bed. He did not get out of bed once. Even now he doesn’t get up until we go in to see him in the morning! He is amazing.
The twins on the other hand are a completely different story. They constantly get out of bed, run around and generally play up at bed time. It took 2 hours to get them to sleep in their beds the first night. We then pushed their beds together. This at least stopped them running constantly between the beds.
I must say it is also very cute seeing them together. My twins only slept in the same cot for the first 12 weeks, so seeing them snuggled up together is so nice. I love sitting on their beds reading them a nice quiet bedtime story altogether, then kissing them goodnight and when we return often finding them asleep together on the same bed…….so cute!
I think putting the twins into beds is one of the toughest things we have done since having them, but it is also one of the best things, so despite the serious difficulties of this stage (definitely worse with 2, as they wind each other up and egg each other on), it is also one of the cutest stages.
